Would you like to be part of the 2013 Jane Austen Festival planning process? We are welcoming new members to the team and seeking expressions of interest in key management areas. Please email janeaustenfestival@gmail.com if you wish to be more involved.
At the moment I'm trying to identify all the necessary management positions - the more we have the easier it will be to manage the whole, and make sure people actually get to enjoy the festival as well!
Feel free to let us know of other volunteer management positions that we should consider filling besides -
- volunteer manager
- dietary table manager
- country fair manager
- catering manager
- cleaning manager
- first aid manager
- room managers
- sewing class manager
- hospitality manager
- after-festival-volunteer-
thankyou-party organiser/manager (this could be held on Sunday night?) - decoration manager
- sponsorship manager
- program/timetable manager
- ticketing manager
- front-of-house table manager
In fact, having these managers would free up the Volunteer Manager on the festival weekend - so the VM would do preparatory work but the actual managers take over on the weekend. When problems arise they can take them to the VM if relevant, but each manager would have their own set of volunteers to manage as well. Some managers might have paid contractors working for them, ie. catering. Because of public liability requirements, we can only provide insurance cover for volunteers. Paid contractors are required to provide their own public liability insurance cover and must provide us with full quotes for services in advance.
So, please send your expressions of interest in these volunteer management positions to janeaustenfestival@gmail.com - and we'll start filling positions in August. These managers will receive full/partial refunds of their ticket expenses after the 2013 festival - as was the case in 2012 - we have now processed all refunds.
