JANE AUSTEN FESTIVAL AUSTRALIA
12-14 April 2019

Jane Austen Festival Australia is an annual celebration in Canberra where Austen and Napoleonic fans from all over Australia come and indulge themselves in everything Regency - including dancing, music, food, games, archery, fencing, theatre, promenades, grand balls, talks, workshops, costumes and books. This festival is now a regular part of the ACT Heritage Festival, Australian Heritage Week and is supported by the ACT Government, the Australian Costumers Guild and the Earthly Delights Historic Dance Academy. Since its inception in 2008 this little festival has blossomed into one of the most delightful four days anyone could experience each April in an old and beautiful part of Canberra, the Federal capital of Australia.

Post-Jane Austen Festival 2011

The 2011 Jane Austen Festival is over - it was fantastic seeing everyone again and meeting new friends.
This year we trialled a new programming format based on feedback received the year before - my thoughts are that it didn't work as successfully as it might have, and I plan to return to limited attendance sewing workshops during the festival - but will trial limiting attendees to two workshops only, with names then placed on waiting lists for other classes. I'd like everyone to have the chance to participate and will be putting demonstrations into the Robertson Room where there is more space for seating. It is very obvious that these are some of the most popular sessions during the day.
The 2012 festival will be changing its format - you may see a dinner on Thursday night, a marketplace on Saturday and even an archery challenge!

NEW CO-ORDINATORS
CULINARY: Already we have a 3-person team working on culinary arrangements, so watch this space. There are new ideas and new formats the team would like to try and they look very exciting.
ENTERTAINMENT: Ideas are coming forward thick and fast in this area. Deborah Mulhall has kindly stepped forward to assist in co-ordinating this area.

Hi Aylwen, I loved the play "Pride n Prejudice in 10 minutes" so funny, I hope you get them back next year. hhhm "Emma" in 10 minutes???
I also found the "how to" workshops very interesting, but would love it if you bring back some of the hands on work shops..such as bonnets etc.

Dear Lady Penelope
We are bringing back limited-entry hands-on workshops next April. Bonnets, plumes, sacques and neck frills are definitely on the list.
Deborah M, who organised the play this year, is co-ordinating the Friday night activities and promises us much more theatre and music - many new faces from Canberra and Sydney will grace the stage. John and I will have a chance to step back at last :)
Regards,
Aylwen
